Maternity sessions are a beautiful way to capture the anticipation and joy of this special time in your life.
If you’re new to the world of maternity photography, you might have some questions.
Fear not!
The ideal time for a maternity session is usually between 28 to 36 weeks of pregnancy. During this time, your bump is beautiful, and you’re likely feeling comfortable enough to enjoy the session without any major discomfort.
Choosing the right photographer is crucial for capturing the essence of your pregnancy journey. Start by browsing through portfolios of local photographers to find a style that resonates with you. Look for someone experienced in maternity photography who can make you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera.
Opt for clothing that accentuates your bump while making you feel beautiful and comfortable. Flowy dresses, form-fitting tops, and maternity gowns are popular choices. Solid colors or subtle patterns tend to photograph well, but ultimately, choose outfits that reflect your personal style and make you feel fabulous.
Yes! I have about 30+ dresses, that are handpicked and work beautifully for your maternity session! These dresses work with the light and style of my photography. You may also wear a dress you purchase or rent yourself, but please note that I will provide suggestions of color and style as the clothing you choose to wear for your session will make a difference in the final product!
The location of your maternity session can significantly impact the overall feel of your photos. Some popular options include outdoor settings like parks, beaches, or gardens for a natural, scenic backdrop. Alternatively, indoor sessions in my studio can offer a cozy and intimate atmosphere.
Maternity sessions take about 1-1.5 hours in total. This includes the time to choose wardrobe, and change outfits.
Investing in hair and makeup is suggested but not mandatory! Whether you choose to hire an artist or do yourself, I ask that hair and make-up be ready and done by the time we start the session. At the moment, I do not have a preferred hair and makeup artist. Your hands will more than likely be in a lot of shots, so please come with any chipped nails removed, or manicured hands.
Absolutely! Including your partner and other children in the photos can add depth and meaning to your maternity session. It’s a wonderful opportunity to capture the love and excitement of your growing family as you prepare to welcome a new addition.
