There’s something so timeless and beautiful about keeping a newborn session simple, and this blue-themed newborn mini session was the perfect example.
For this session, I decided to create a one-color newborn setup using different shades and textures of blue. From soft blue wraps and blankets to cozy knits and delicate details, each setup stayed within the same color palette while still giving every image its own look.

I love using a monochromatic color scheme for newborn photography because it keeps the focus exactly where it belongs—on the baby. The different shades of blue add dimension and interest without making the images feel busy or overly styled.
We incorporated a mix of wrapped poses, cozy baskets, textured blankets, and simple newborn details, creating a collection that feels both classic and modern. The soft blues worked beautifully with the natural wood and neutral tones in the studio, giving the images a calm and peaceful feel.

A one-color theme is such a fun way to personalize a newborn session while keeping everything cohesive. Instead of choosing completely different colors for every setup, we can take one favorite color and use various shades, fabrics, textures, and props to create a variety of portraits.
And blue doesn’t have to mean just one particular shade! We can use everything from soft baby blue and dusty blue to deeper denim-inspired tones, creating a beautiful range while still keeping the overall look consistent.

These sessions are also perfect for parents who love simple, timeless newborn photography. The images won’t feel tied to a particular trend or theme, making them beautiful pieces of artwork to enjoy for years to come
A Little Blue for Baby Boy
Blue is a classic choice for baby boys, but I especially love how soft and elegant it can look when paired with natural textures and neutral backgrounds. Rather than making the session feel overly “boy themed,” the different blue tones create a peaceful, sophisticated look.
This little one’s session was a perfect example of how simple doesn’t have to mean boring. By changing the textures, props, poses, and shades of blue, we were able to create a beautiful variety of images while maintaining one cohesive style throughout the entire session.

At my Fort Worth studio, I have a large collection of newborn props, wraps, blankets, outfits, hats, and accessories, so we can create a session that is completely customized to your style—including a favorite color!
One color. Different shades. Lots of sweet newborn details. And memories you’ll treasure forever.
