A Silhouette Session | Fort Worth Maternity Photographer

There is something so timeless and beautiful about maternity silhouettes. They are simple, elegant, and completely focused on the beautiful shape of pregnancy. For this maternity session, we created a series of classic silhouette portraits that highlighted her growing belly in a soft, artistic way.

Silhouette images are one of my favorite ways to capture maternity portraits because they don’t need a lot of props, elaborate posing, or complicated setups. Instead, the focus is on the curves and shape of the expectant mom and the excitement of the baby she is carrying.

Creating Maternity Silhouettes

For these portraits, we used soft backlighting to create a beautiful outline around her body. The light allowed her profile and belly to stand out while keeping the overall image simple and dramatic.

We tried several different poses, including standing in profile, gently holding her belly, and raising her arms to create a more artistic shape. Even small changes in hand placement or posture can create a completely different silhouette.

One of my favorite things about silhouette maternity portraits is how beautifully they showcase the shape of the belly. The profile of a pregnant mom is something that only exists for such a short period of time, making these images a special reminder of this season.
