When parents book a newborn photography session, one of the most important things they want to know is that their baby will be safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the entire experience. As a newborn photographer, safety is always my first priority—even before creating beautiful images.
With more than 17 years of experience specializing in newborn photography, I have learned that the best newborn photographs happen when baby is comfortable and never rushed.

Newborns don’t follow a schedule during their photography session, and that’s completely okay. Babies may need to eat, be changed, be rocked, or simply have a little extra time to settle.
I allow plenty of time for breaks throughout the session. If your baby is hungry, we stop and feed them. If they need a diaper change, we take care of it. If they need some extra cuddling, we slow down and give them that time.
There is never a need to rush through a pose just to get the photograph.

I use simple, natural poses that are appropriate for newborns and always pay attention to baby’s cues. Newborns are still developing their strength and coordination, so their head, neck, and body need to be supported carefully.
I never force a baby into a position that they are uncomfortable with. If a pose isn’t working for your baby, we move on and try something else.
My goal is to create images that look beautiful and peaceful while keeping the experience calm for your little one.

Safety during newborn photography requires constant attention. Baby is always within arm’s reach, and I never leave a newborn unattended on a posing surface.
For certain images, additional support may be needed to safely create the final photograph. Some photographs that appear effortless are actually created from multiple images combined together, allowing me to safely support baby throughout the process.
The finished photograph may look simple, but safety is always happening behind the scenes.

Newborns aren’t able to regulate their body temperature as well as older babies and children, which is why I keep my studio comfortably warm during newborn sessions.
I also watch baby throughout the session for signs that they are too warm or uncomfortable. Keeping baby comfortable helps them settle and sleep peacefully, which also makes for a much more relaxed experience for everyone.

Parents don’t have to sit quietly on the sidelines during a newborn session. In fact, I often encourage parents to be close by and involved when needed.
You know your baby better than anyone, so if you notice that they are hungry, uncomfortable, or need something, please let me know. Your baby’s needs always come first.
Bringing your brand-new baby to a photography session can feel a little overwhelming, especially if this is your first child. You don’t need to know how to pose your baby or worry about whether your baby will cooperate.
That’s my job.
I will guide you through the session, handle your baby gently, and allow plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks. My goal is for you to leave with beautiful photographs and feel like your baby was cared for every step of the way.
After more than 17 years of photographing newborns, I know that the most beautiful newborn images aren’t created by rushing. They’re created by slowing down, paying attention, and making sure baby is safe and comfortable first. If you’re interested in booking a newborn session just click the button below.
